Risk of accidents happening in South China Sea ‘rising all the time’
Lowy Institute Senior Fellow Richard McGregor says the “risk of accidents” happening in the South China Sea is “rising all the time”.
Mr McGregor says China has “stopped or held off” from harassing United States planes “more recently in North Asia and around that area”.
“The Canadians have been harassed on a similar UN mission looking at sanctions or policing sanctions against North Korea,” Mr McGregor told Sky News Australia.
“The Canadians have had a number of clashes, It’s not just the Australians.
“It’s because of what Australia has been doing in support of the Philippines, in support of intentional rulings in the South China Sea and China would be infuriated about that.”
