Release SPM results earlier, says union, citing school holidays
The National Union of the Teaching Profession said the education ministry should release the SPM results on May 23, four days ahead of schedule, in view of the school holidays.
PETALING JAYA: A teachers’ union has urged the education ministry to release the results of the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination on May 23, four days earlier than scheduled, in view of the school holidays.
The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) said this would allow teachers to go for their break from May 24 to June 2 without the stress of waiting for the exam results.
NUTP secretary-general Fouzi Singon said releasing the results on May 27 would affect any plans teachers might have to leave town for vacation.
“Most teachers would have already planned to return to their hometowns or go for holidays with their families. NUTP hopes the ministry would consider announcing the SPM results before the term break begins,” he said in a statement.
Earlier, the education ministry said SPM candidates may obtain their results from their schools from 10am on May 27.
They may also obtain their results online at myresultspm.moe.gov.my from 10am on May 27 to 6pm on June 2.
