The Premier League have announced that Mike Dean will be the referee when Manchester United host Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
United are currently unbeaten in the Premier League this season, with four wins and a draw from their first five games of the season thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard’s goals in the 2-1 win over West Ham on Sunday.
Aston Villa have had an indifferent start, but will come into the game in good spirits after a 3-0 thrashing of Everton on Saturday thanks to Matty Cash, an own goal from Lucas Digne and a powerful strike from Leon Bailey.
Villa will travel to Old Trafford at lunchtime after the game was moved due to a request from the council, and Mike Dean is the man that will be tasked with ensuring that proceedings run smoothly.
He will be joined by Darren Cann and Eddie Smart as his assistants, while the fourth official will be Michael Salisbury. VAR will be overseen by Andy Madley and his assistant Simon Beck.
Dean was in charge of United once already this season, when the Reds were able to beat Wolves 1-0 at the Molineux thanks to a Mason Greenwood strike just before the international break. He was also in charge of Aston Villa’s opening day defeat to Watford in August.
United will look to remain unbeaten and stay at the top of the league alongside Chelsea and Liverpool, with all three sides on 13 points from their first five games.
