The defending Nedbank Cup champions Orlando Pirates might have a battle on their hands to beat AmaZulu in this season’s quarter-finals. They face a defensive injury crisis.
Orlando Pirates without three key central defenders?
Nkosinathi Sibisi missed the 7-1 win over Arrows after his dismissal against Swallows for dissent. Fellow central defender Tapelo Xoki picked up his fourth yellow card of the campaign against Arrows, meaning he’s ruled out against Usuthu. Meanwhile, Olisa Ndah is still nursing an injury which means the Buccaneers look a little light in the heart of defence with all three unavailable against AmaZulu. Pirates might need to field a new partnership in defence with Sandile Mthethwa and Thabiso Sesane the most obvious options in that regard. Regular left-back and club captain Innocent Maela could also deputise in that position.

AmaZulu vs Pirates this weekend in the Nedbank Cup quarters
Pirates face AmaZulu on Saturday 13 April at 18:00 from Moses Mabhida Stadium. The University of Pretoria, the only lower-league side left in the competition, face the might of Sundowns on Friday evening while Stellenbosch and SuperSport meet on Saturday at 15:00 in a tasty-looking clash. TS Galaxy and Chippa will enjoy their moment in the sun on Sunday as they battle for a place in the semifinals.
