top level exit? helios capital’s samir arora lambasts ceo sundar pichai amidst google’s gemini ai controversies, says ‘he will be fired’
Google’s Gemini AI chatbot has found itself embroiled in controversy, raising concerns over biased responses and historically inaccurate images. The debacle has prompted the tech giant to initiate refinements in the AI models powering the chatbot. The first point of contention revolves around the chatbot’s responses to queries about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The controversy surrounding Gemini has escalated to the extent that notable investor Samir Arora, founder and fund manager at Mumbai-based financial consultant Helios Capital, labeled Google’s handling of the situation as a ‘failure.’ Arora went on record stating that Google, despite its leadership in AI, had faltered in this instance, hinting that CEO Sundar Pichai should either resign or be fired.
“My guess is he will be fired or resign – as he should. After being in the lead on AI, he has completely failed on this and let others take over,” remarked Arora in response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) discussing the chatbot’s refusal to acknowledge the existence of white people.
Allegations of bias surfaced when the AI chatbot seemingly provided unclear answers, in stark contrast to its responses regarding former US president Donald Trump and Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Google promptly acknowledged the issue, attributing it to the chatbot’s occasional unreliability in addressing certain prompts related to current events and political topics, as per report on TOI.
Google, for its part, acknowledged the challenges faced by the Gemini AI chatbot and emphasized its commitment to addressing the issues swiftly. The company reassured users that it is actively refining the AI models to enhance reliability and accuracy.
