BJP by-passing democratic process to enact laws: Priyanka Gandhi
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday accused BJP for treating “the Constitution of India as an instrument of their own greed” and enacting “laws by by-passing the democratic process”.
Addressing a rally in Chalakudy Lok Sabha seat, Kerala, Priyanka said, “They treat the Constitution of India as an instrument of their own greed and ambition, as if it is a piece of paper.”
“This new India that is being told to us is one where force asserts itself over righteousness and laws are enacted by by-passing the democratic process and enforced upon the people against their will,” she added.
She also accused the Centre of remaining mute on protests in Ladakh over alleged Chinese encroachment, claiming that farmers’ views were only heard as the elections approached.
“In this new nation, voices of dissent are silenced. The government harasses, accuses and imprisons those who dare to speak against it,” she alleged.
Priyanka Gandhi was campaigning for Congress candidate Benny Behanan.
