Independent MP Allegra Spender has called for a greater focus on violence against women following the Bondi stabbings.
She emphasised how the Bondi Junction attack seemed to be targeted against women, referring to five of six victims who were killed and the nine of twelve hospitalised.
Violence against women ‘an issue in the community’ in the wake of Bondi stabbings
Ms Spender told Sky News Australia that violence against women “is an issue in this community”.
The Independent MP said local police are spending “up to 50 per cent” of their time responding to domestic violence.
She has called for greater support of grassroots organisations in tackling the issue.
