Representative Lauren Boebert, the staunchly pro-Trump Colorado Republican, received a bit of good news for her embattled 2024 reelection campaign on Saturday.

Boebert has represented Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District since 2021, distinguishing herself as among the most vocal supporters of former President Donald Trump in Congress. In 2022 during the midterm elections, she came within a hundred votes of losing reelection in a surprise near-upset from Democrat Adam Frisch. Heading into the 2024 election cycle, polls indicated that Frisch, running again, had a strong chance of unseating her the second time around.

Citing the influx of donations for Frisch’s campaign from out-of-state, Boebert in December announced her intention to move her residence and seek election in Colorado’s 4th district instead. The move has, however, still been fraught with difficulties for the congresswoman, with voters in the new district regularly expressing their distaste for her and her efforts to find success there.

Additionally, Boebert’s recent public scandals, most notably an incident in which she was removed from a Denver theater for allegedly inappropriate behavior, have also been cited by voters who said they did not want to support her. An informal straw poll from a GOP debate in the district also saw her place fifth out of nine candidates for the nomination.

As the struggles have piled on, Boebert’s campaign received some good news on Saturday in the form of an endorsement from Trump. While the effectiveness of the former president’s endorsements has been questionable in general races, they have been shown to move the needle considerably for candidates in GOP primary races.

“Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a Proven Conservative and Effective Leader who delivers for Colorado, and our America First agenda,” the former president wrote in a Truth Social post. “She has led the fight to Impeach Joe Biden, Stop Illegal Immigration, Defend the Second Amendment, Protect our Wonderful Ranchers and Farmers, Support our Military and Veterans, Secure our Natural Resources to Pursue Energy Dominance, and Stand Up to the Radical Democrats who want to Destroy our Beautiful Country. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is a trusted America First Fighter, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District!”

Newsweek reached out to Boebert’s office via email for comment on Saturday evening. Any response received will be added to this story in a later update.

Trump also gave Boebert a shout-out during a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Saturday afternoon, in which he suggested that she would “do fantastically in [her] district.”

The only GOP primary poll for Colorado’s 4th district featured on FiveThirtyEight shows Boebert with a considerable 25-point lead over her nearest opponent, Mike Lynch, but the polling company, Kaplan Strategies, stressed late last month that “a path to potential defeat remains in the cards.”
