This was confirmed by Michael Yormark, President of Roc Nation Sports International, the Sharks’ owners. Media has been awash with reports that the talented Hendrikse, brother of Springbok scrumhalf Jayden, has signed a deal to join his brother at the Durban franchise for next season.
However, speaking to Rugby365, Yormark revealed that this is not the case.
“When any athlete goes into the last year of their contract, they have to start looking at options,” he said.
“They have to think about what the future holds. That is the process we are going through with Jordan and his family. He and his attorney, as well as myself, are going through those conversations.
“When we have official news, he and his attorney will ultimately announce that. We need to ensure he is in the right place to reach all of his goals and objectives. Over the next couple of months, we will ultimately make that decision.”
Hendrikse has represented South Africa at U18 and U20 levels and debuted for the Lions at just 19 years old.
Other big names linked to the Sharks are Springbok and Leinster lock Jason Jenkins and Lions loose forward Emmanuel Tshituka. His brother Vincent is already at the Sharks.
