Maestro stars Carey Mulligan and Bradley Cooper put on a very animated display at the Critics Choice Awards 2024 at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California on Sunday evening.

The duo, who are both nominated for top gongs, couldn’t contain their giggles as they took to the star-studded red carpet.

Carey, 38, put on a very busty display as she went braless beneath a plunging black velvet gown with a sculpted and sequinned neckline.

The dress boasted a stunning train and she forwent a neckless letting the outfit speak for itself, choosing instead diamond earrings and a matching ring.

Meanwhile Bradley, 49, who also directed the Leonard Bernstein biopic, cut a suave figure in a tailored black suit and stylish aviator glasses.

Bradley co-wrote, produced, directed, and stared in the movie which scored a 79% critic approval rating (out of 306 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

He spent six years preparing to play the Massachusetts-born musician by studying the way he conducted orchestras, honing his way of speaking with dialect coach Tim Monich, and collaborating with Oscar-winning make-up artist Kazu Hiro.

Carey portrays Leonard’s devoted wife Felicia Montealegre, with whom he raised three children during their 25-year marriage interrupted by her 1978 death from lung cancer.

‘The first hook was the idea of two artists living concurrently together, making a life together, and one of them being literally touched by God and the other one being an artist,’Carey told  THR.

‘Steven Spielberg, who’s one of our producers, said to Bradley that she was more successful than Lenny when they first met. But she devoted her life to him. And Steven said of Felicia, “Lenny was her art.”‘

The Costa Rican-born actress stuck by Bernstein’s side even after his homosexual affairs with musician David Oppenheim (Matt Bomer) and music scholar Tommy Cothran (Gideon Glick).

‘The betrayal for her was nothing to do with sex or infidelity,’ Carey explained.

‘It was to do with her being essentially his muse, mentor, best friend, guide, closest confidant. And the moment that he turned to somebody else for that, it’s not about anything except: What’s the point of her existence if she’s not that person anymore?’

Leonard was best known for his work with the New York Philharmonic and the Broadway musical West Side Story and he won seven Emmy Awards, two Tony Awards, 16 Grammy Awards, and the Kennedy Center Honor.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actor brought his mother Gloria and his girlfriend since October – Gigi Hadid – to Giorgio Baldi for a post-Golden Globes Italian meal.

‘His mom definitely approves of this relationship and thinks Gigi is just lovely,’ a source told Us Weekly.

‘They’re continuing to get serious. Despite their hectic schedules, they spend as much time together as possible. They have a lot in common and both have very funny personalities, so they have amazing chemistry.’

Bradley fathered six-year-old daughter Lea De Seine from his four-year relationship with ex-fiancée Irina Shayk, which ended in 2019.
