Ram celebrates 30,000 American pickups on Australian streets
The Australian arm of American pickup brand Ram has remanufactured its 30,000th vehicle Down Under.
Ram Trucks Australia is celebrating the milestone, which was reached with the remanufacture of a 1500 Big Horn in Melbourne, by offering a new finance deal.
Until the end of June, all Ram 1500 Big Horn models sold and delivered will be offered with a 4.99 per cent no-deposit finance package.
“Thirty thousand vehicles is a significant carpark in anyone’s books – that its come about in a segment that didn’t exist a few years ago is testament to the hard work of everyone involved,” said Ram Trucks Australia general manager Jeff Barber.
“The lead up to the End of Financial Year is always peak buying time for small to medium business owners, and this Mates Rates finance offer is a compelling deal on the entry point to the RAM Trucks range.”
2015 Ram 3500
Ram, part of automotive giant Stellantis, beat Ford and General Motors to the Australian market in offering a factory-backed full-sized pickup locally remanufactured in right-hand drive.
The brand commenced local operations in 2014 and has increased its sales every year since then.
It sold 6833 vehicles in 2023, with its 1500 being the most popular vehicle in the full-sized pickup segment with 5922 examples sold.
Ram vehicles are delivered from the US production line and remanufactured in right-hand drive for the Australian market at a facility in Clayton, Victoria.
The remanufacturing is done by local firm Walkinshaw, with Ram Trucks Australia offering right-hook versions of the 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickups.
Ram Trucks Australia is a licensed trademark of American Special Vehicles, which is owned by LDV, Maserati and Renault distributor Ateco.

Prices range from $119,950 before on-road costs for the entry-level 1500 Big Horn up to $224,950 plus on-roads for the flagship 1500 TRX.
All 1500 models feature V8 power, while 2500 and 3500 versions are equipped with a 6.7-litre turbo-diesel six-cylinder powerplant.
Since right-hand drive Rams first started rolling off the local line, Ford and General Motors have followed – but the Ram 1500 is still the best-selling vehicle in its segment.
In the first quarter of this year, 2623 full-sized pickups were reported as sold in Australia – consisting of vehicles from the Chevrolet Silverado and Silverado HD, Ram 1500/2500/3500, Ford F-150 and Toyota Tundra model lines.
This represents a 16.3 per cent increase on the 2256 pickups delivered in the same period last year.
