‘We have a great coach’ Patrick Maswanganyi after MOTM display

Patrick Maswanganyi’s Man of the Match performance inspired Orlando Pirates to a 4-2 win over AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers move on to the semi-final of the Nedbank Cup having won the competition last season.

‘Tito’ scored twice to inspire his team to a second semi-final of the season. The Soweto giants have already bagged the MTN8 trophy earlier this campaign.

Patrick Maswangany has now scored eight goals in all competitions for Orlando Pirates.

“I’d like to give thanks to God, my family, my friends, those who are close to me – I think seeing them happy makes me want to do more every time, my grandma always says she’s proud of me, it keeps me going,” he told SuperSport TV.

Patrick Maswanganyi continues to impress at Orlando Pirates

“Today I came here to give my best. Every game I want to give my best, not only for my friends and family but the fans who come out here to watch us, I think we owe them a lot, we’ve been losing results and now we want to do well in the cup, we put in a great shift today as a team, it could have been anyone for Man of the Match, but I’m glad it’s me.”

Patrick Maswanganyi also took time to thank his coach Jose Riveiro.

“We have a great coach who also helps us slow down the momentum, no matter what happens [he makes us] chill and makes sure we play our own football, also to give great passes to each other, be natural, relax and we did that today.”

Pirates and AmaZulu will face each other once more in a league clash on Saturday. The Buccaneers are unbeaten against Usuthu in over a decade.
