AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale reportedly contemplated bringing tennis star Novak Djokovic on board as the Rossoneri’s mental coach just three months ago, as per La Repubblica newspaper.

The idea was for Djokovic, a fervent Milan supporter, to provide motivational support to players facing challenges.

Despite being considered as a potential collaborator, there were no discussions between Cardinale and Djokovic about a role at the Stadio Meazza.

This revelation comes at a time when AC Milan, a football powerhouse, has been navigating both on-field and off-field challenges.

With a rich history and a fanbase known for their passionate support, AC Milan has been striving to return to its glory days in Italian and European football.

The potential addition of Novak Djokovic, a global sports icon, to the AC Milan support staff would have added a unique dimension to the team’s approach, leveraging the mental resilience and winning mentality that Djokovic has demonstrated throughout his illustrious tennis career.

Despite the missed opportunity, Djokovic’s unwavering support for AC Milan continues.

He regularly attends games at San Siro, showing his dedication to the club. Notably, Djokovic even took the opportunity to meet Milan players Rafael Leao and Ismael Benacer during the ATP Finals in Turin last November, strengthening the bond between the tennis superstar and the football giants.

The Serie A side are currently third in the table, behind rivals Inter Milan at the top and in-form Juventus in second. They will be keen to get back to winning ways as they look for a 20th title win in Italy.

The Rossoneri host title-holders Napoli at home on Sunday after a 3-2 victory over Frosinone.
