Queenslanders can cash out power rebate
We all love someone else paying our power bills, so the Premier’s promise to give every Queensland household a $1000 power rebate to energize our budgets was no doubt welcome news. Because it’s a lump sum payment, the cash will be credited to your account in its entirety from July, and whatever you don’t use on your next bill will then be rolled onto the one after that. Therein lies the loophole. If, for example, you had a $400.00 power bill. After the $1000 is delivered you’ll be $600 in credit. Should you change energy providers and close your account, that $600.00 will be cashed out instant money with a not so subtle pre election message. It’s why we’ve done it as a lump sum on the account from July this year to ensure David crisifully and the LNP can’t claw back those rebates from Queenslanders. Of course, should you choose this path you’ll then have to cover your own power bill and go through the process of switching providers.
