Queen again at the top of the Top 2000, favorite song Peter R. de Vries on 3

Queen again at the top of the Top 2000, favorite song Peter R. de Vries on 3

Queen is this year with Bohemian Rhapsody again at 1 in the Top 2000. With this the band has restored the pecking order after a year of absence. The song is at the top for the eighteenth time in 23 editions. Danny Vera, who last year with roller coaster NPO Radio 2 topped the list, now has to settle for second place.

Behind these anticipated songs, the number 3 stood out; A whiter shade of pale by Procol Harum. That has everything to do with the murder of Peter R. de Vries. It is known that this was his favorite song. Last year this number was still at 153.

Radar Love of Golden Earring, last year at number 33, rose by the way to number 6. This can be traced back to the end of the band, which stopped at the beginning of this year because guitarist George Kooymans had to stop performing due to illness.

The top 10 of the 23rd Top 2000 is as follows (last year’s position in brackets):

1. Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen (2)
2. roller coaster – Danny Vera (1)
3. A Whiter Shade Of Pale – Procol Harum (153)
4. Hotel California – Eagles (3)
5. Piano Man – Billy Joel (4)
6. Radar Love – Golden Earring (33)
7. Stairway To Heaven – Led Zeppelin (5)
8. Nothing Else Matters – Metallica (17)
9. black – Pearl Jam (6)
10. Evening – Baudouin de Groot (7)

The full Top 2000 will be unveiled on Thursday 16 December between 12:00 and 14:00 during Annemiekes A-Lunch on NPO Radio 2.

Five songs topped the Top 2000, which has been broadcast since 1999. Queen led the list eighteen times with Bohemian Rhapsody, Hotel California of Eagles was number 1 twice (2010 and 2014), Evening by Boudewijn de Groot (2005), this year in 10th place, imagine by John Lennon (2015) and roller coaster by Danny Vera both led the Top 2000 once.
