En el Ciudadano ADN conversamos sobre seguridad en la calefacción eléctrica junto a Luis Clavería, jefe de control de calidad en Covisa, a raíz del lamentable incendio ocurrido durante esta semana que afectó a la familia de la actriz Mariana Derderián.

“La electricidad sigue siendo una alternativa bastante segura en términos de calefacción, siempre y cuando se tomen las medidas correspondientes”; comentó Clavería al inicio de la conversación.

Recomendaciones para evitar incendios en casa

Respecto al caso de la actriz y locutora, el jefe de control de calidad en Covisa explicó que si bien no podría dar un diagnóstico desde la distancia, “en términos generales, nosotros en Chile tenemos un reglamento bastante robusto para la utilización de artefactos eléctricos”.

“Todos los artefactos e insumos eléctricos deben pasar por una certificación obligatoria, la que corresponde a una serie de pruebas que son básicas y que van siempre orientadas a la seguridad del usuario”, mencionó el profesional de la electricidad.

En esa misma línea, Clavería dijo que “la primera invitación es a comprar, utilizar y hacer un buen uso de estos productos, además que todos estos estén certificados”.

Siguiendo con las recomendaciones, el representante de Covisa señaló que otro punto importante es “mantener las instalaciones eléctricas en buen estado”.

“En la actualidad existen materiales que pueden evitar y mejorar el comportamiento de los artículos eléctricos en general frente a situaciones de fuego. Nosotros mismos desarrollamos cables de seguridad que no propagan la llama, que no emiten humos tóxicos o incluso, aumentan la visibilidad para el escape en caso de que ya tengamos un incendio declarado”, destacó.

El problema de los alargadores de corriente

Usualmente, las personas en sus hogares utilizan zapatillas de energía en las que conectan diversos equipos electrónicos como computadores, estufas, cargadores de celular y así. Luis Clavería procedió a responder a la duda de si este aparato es recomendable o no.

“El problema es que como la electricidad no es visible, se expresa en términos de calor, lo que hace que aumenten las temperaturas en los puntos de unión. Si tenemos algún elemento inflamable cerca, se va a producir el triángulo del fuego con oxígeno, combustible y calor, donde es casi inevitable un incendio”, explicó.
