MOSCOW, August 3. /TASS/. Cooperation in combating the coronavirus pandemic in the light of agreements on supplies of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was the focus of a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Bolivian counterpart, Luis Arce, the Kremlin press service said on Tuesday.

“The sides discussed issues of cooperation in combating the coronavirus infection with due account of the agreement on supplies of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to Bolivia,” it said.

Both presidents expressed satisfaction with the development of the Russian-Bolivian cooperation in other areas, including trade, energy, and humanitarian exchanges. The conversation was initiated by the Bolivian side.

Russia’s Sputnik V has been in use in Bolivia since January 29. Even before the first batch of the Russian vaccine reached the country, presidential spokesman Jorge Richter said President Arce planned to get inoculated with the Russian vaccine among the first “to demonstrate confidence in the process of vaccination.” Later, it was decided the president would wait for his turn under the vaccination calendar based on his age. Ultimately, the president was vaccinated with Sputnik V in May.

Along with Russia’s Sputnik V, Bolivia is using AstraZeneca and Sinopharm vaccines.
