Pusat transit gelandangan sakit mental akan diwujudkan di KL

JELEBU – Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan akan mewujudkan pusat transit khusus untuk gelandangan yang mempunyai masalah kesihatan mental di Kuala Lumpur.

Timbalan Menterinya, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias berkata, jawatankuasa khas akan ditubuhkan bagi mengkaji kawasan serta tempat yang sesuai untuk menempatkan golongan tersebut.

“Pusat transit itu nanti akan diselia di bawah Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). Pada masa kini, kita masih tiada pusat khas di Kuala Lumpur untuk menempatkan mereka yang menghidap masalah mental.

“Ini adalah perancangan masa panjang di mana kita akan mengenal pasti kawasan atau bangunan tertentu untuk dijadikan sebagai pusat rawatan masalah mental,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas program penyerahan bantuan komputer riba kepada mahasiswa di Parlimen Jelebu di sini pada Jumaat.

Beliau yang juga Ahli Parlimen Jelebu berkata, kajian yang akan dibuat nanti meliputi kaedah atau perjalanan menguruskan tempat berkenaan secara teratur.

“Rumah tumpangan gelandangan sedia ada ketika ini tidak sesuai untuk menempatkan golongan yang mempunyai masalah mental kerana ia boleh mendatangkan masalah kepada mereka yang menginap di situ.

“Sebaliknya, mereka dikenal pasti mempunyai masalah mental nanti akan ditempatkan di satu tempat khas yang mempunyai pakar untuk mengurus kumpulan tersebut,” jelas beliau.

Jalaluddin berkata, kementerian akan mengambil contoh pengurusan pusat transit gelandangan mental di Melaka untuk diguna pakai di Kuala Lumpur.

“Di Melaka terdapat satu tempat. Kita akan mengambil contoh pengurusan pusat berkenaan dan mewujudkan pusat yang sama untuk Kuala Lumpur,” katanya.

Dalam pada itu, beliau berkata, pertambahan gelandangan di ibu kota dipercayai berpunca daripada kebanyakan yang hilang pekerjaan dan sumber pendapatan akibat pandemik Covid-19 dari pelbagai negeri.
