Prominent College Football Program Still Without Transfer Commit This Offseason

To no one’s surprise, Clemson is the only Power 4 team that has not signed a player from the transfer portal this offseason.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has had multiple players leave the program via the portal. The Tigers have had players like Andrew Mukuba, Beaux Collins, Toriano Pride Jr., and others sign with other teams as transfers.
Swinney has repeatedly stated that he is not a fan of using the transfer portal. The last player that Clemson added from the portal was former Alabama and Arizona State quarterback Paul Tyson during the 2022 season.
Former players like DJ Uiagalelei have moved on from Clemson via the portal and have found success elsewhere. Uiagalelei lost playing time to Cade Klubnik and transferred to Oregon State, where he led the Beavers to eight wins in 2023.
Uiagalelei set a career-high with 2,638 passing yards in his first season at Oregon State. With head coach Jonathan Smith’s departure to Michigan State, Uiagalelei has since transferred to Florida State. He faces his former team on Nov. 5 in Tallahassee in what should be must-see television.
Even some of the more tenured coaches in college football, like Nick Saban, used the transfer portal. Yet for some reason, Swinney is still holding firm to his beliefs.
