Prince Louis’ Christmas milestone could finally be reached this year as the Royal Family prepares for their first Christmas at Sandringham since 2019.
- If the Prince and Princess of Wales and their kids join the King and Queen Consort at Sandringham for Christmas they could do the Christmas Day walk to church.
- This would be the first time ever that Prince Louis has experienced this highly-anticipated festive moment alongside his wider family.
- This royal news comes as it was revealed that Princess Anne’s wedding to Mark Phillips sparked the Queen’s hilarious prediction about their future kids.
With Christmas Day drawing ever closer the Royal Family’s preparations are likely well underway, with Buckingham Palace recently confirming that King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will be marking the festive season at Sandringham House in Norfolk. This upholds the late Queen’s tradition of celebrating there and it could be that King Charles and Camilla are honoring the Queen with this choice. It’s also thought that King Charles’ sentimental gifting tradition could continue, again following in his mother’s footsteps with this decades-old custom.
However, this Christmas will also have many aspects that are new for His Majesty, such as his first Christmas Day speech. And whilst the occasion will no doubt be tinged with sadness, Prince Louis’ Christmas milestone could finally be reached…
It’s not yet known which members of the Royal Family will travel to Sandringham to mark Christmas with the King and Queen. However, before the pandemic the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children were frequently part of the royal Christmas celebrations in Norfolk.
Now as King Charles faces the first Christmas since the Queen’s death, it’s very likely that Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George, Charlotte and Louis will join him. And if they do, it’s possible that Prince Louis could get to experience his first Christmas Day walk to church.
This tradition sees the royals make their way to St Mary Magdalene Church for the Christmas Day service and fans often gather hoping to catch a glimpse of them. In previous years everything from Kate Middleton’s Christmas Day outfits to the Fab Four together have caught people’s attention. But Prince Louis has never made this journey alongside his nearest and dearest.
During the pandemic the Queen canceled hosting Christmas at Sandringham in favor of celebrating quietly at Windsor Castle. This means that the last royal Christmas and Christmas Day church walk in Norfolk was back in 2019. At the time Prince William and Kate’s youngest child was just over a year old and so was possibly too young to attend the service. Instead, only Prince George and Princess Charlotte accompanied their parents to church.
But this could all change in 2022 as he is now four – the same age Princess Charlotte was when she went to church in 2019. Prince Louis was also the royal behind some of the best moments from the Platinum Jubilee weekend in June when he attended many of the events with his family.
This suggests that he is now considered old enough to appear at major public events and family occasions. With this in mind, if the Wales family do celebrate in Norfolk in December, fans could potentially get to see all three of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children dressed in their festive best on Christmas Day and Prince Louis’ Christmas milestone could be reached for the first time.
