After a good chunk of days where you could wear slides or even shorts, some Edmontonians may have been surprised to wake up to a blanket of snow. 5 centimeters fell over 13 hours. Music to the ears of farmers and ranchers, says Environment Canada climatologist Dave Phillips. This is good news. You know, if I could manufacture the weather, I’d bring a monsoon of snow to to northern Alberta, because you know the snow at this time of the year. Is very wet. It is got full of moisture. It’s not like January snow, which is like powdered soap, you know, It’s just it’s dry and there’s no moisture to it. But this one is really, it’s like gold to farmers and ranchers and water resource managers, Phillips says. We’re in for a warmer than usual May, June and July, but don’t pack up your winter gear just yet. Andrea Hunkar, CBC News, Edmonton.
