Detroit Red Wings at Seattle Kraken odds, picks and predictions

The Detroit Red Wings (28-20-6) take on the Seattle Kraken (23-21-10) Monday at Climate Pledge Arena. Puck drop is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Red Wings vs. Kraken odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Wings left the Calgary Flames in their dust with a 5-0 victory Saturday. C Dylan Larkin scored his team-leading 24th goal to end a 3-game pointless drought. This is the final game of a 4-game road trip before the Wings welcome the Colorado Avalanche Thursday. Detroit is 2-2-1 in its last 5 games.

The Kraken have turned the tides by winning 2 difficult games in a row following a stretch they lost 6 of 8. They beat the New York Islanders 2-1 in a shootout Tuesday before punching the Boston Bruins in the mouth 4-1 Thursday on the road. Seattle was the underdog in each of those. The Kraken beat Detroit, 5-4, in overtime in their only meeting this season back in October.

Red Wings at Kraken projected goalies

Alex Lyon (14-8-2, 2.82 GAA, .911 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Joey Daccord (16-11-9, 2.33 GAA, .923 SV%, 2 SO)

Lyon has hit a rough patch with 4, 7 and 3 goals allowed in his 3 February appearances. He has saved 67 of 81 shots for a paltry .827 SV%. That’s not going to get it done, and the Wings need the tandem of Lyon and James Reimer to hold the fort down while starter Ville Husso (lower body) remains week-to-week.

Daccord has been great with a 2.39 GAA and .938 SV% over his 3 February starts. He’s just 1-2-0 in the stretch, but he has stopped 105 of 112 fired his way. He was between the pipes in the 5-4 win over Detroit earlier this season, stopping 23 of 27.

Red Wings at Kraken picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Red Wings 3

Moneyline

The price to do business went up Monday morning, but I’m still willing to run with Seattle. This would be my limit, though.

The Kraken have won 4 straight meetings, the Wings are on the final game of a road trip and have significant issues between the pipes.

Take the KRAKEN (-145).

Puck line/Against the spread

The last 2 times these teams faced one another, it ended in a 5-4 score in overtime. I don’t see a need to assess the risk here.

One prop I am feeling, though, is DAVID PERRON OVER 1.5 SHOTS (-125). He has 2+ shots in 3 of 4 and has scored goals in 2 of the last 3 games. So, he’s feeling it. He’s a power-play specialist, and Seattle is 21st with a 78.8 PK%.

Over/Under

Every meeting between these teams in Seattle’s short history has had at least 6 goals, and 3 of the 5 games had 7. Seattle is just 2-7-1 O/U over the last 10, though, and Detroit is 4-6. So this isn’t a slam dunk, but I’m still riding with the OVER 6 (-120) with the understanding of a significant push potential.
