Praga Unveils New Lightweight Supercar Bohema With 700 Horsepower

Praga began producing street cars in 1907, but in recent years, it has focused primarily on go-karts, Dakar trucks, and race cars.

However, the automaker is shaking things up with a new, lightweight Bohema supercar with 700 horsepower, as reported first by New Atlas.

With a carbon fibre chassis, race-derived suspension, and a twin-turbo V6 engine taken from the Nissan GT-R, the Praga Bohema is a road-legal track day car that will go into extremely limited production next year. The Bohema will serve as a flagship model for the 115-year-old company and represents the next phase in its road-car program after the R1R. Praga, which starts at a cool £1.32 million, will complete development early in the next year, and production will start soon after.

Bohema Supercar

The astonishing 982 kg (2.165 lb) weight of the Bohema is only 2 kg (4.4 lb) more than Gordon Murray’s T.50 “fan car,” which is an extreme outlier among high-end street-legal vehicles.

The driver is the only thing standing between the carbon race seats and the carbon body, which is mounted on a carbon frame as well.

The supercar features a twin-turbo V6 Nissan with 3.8-liter transported to Litchfield Engineering, where it is transformed into a dry sump in the extremely low Bohema chassis.

It is designed to produce at least 700 horsepower with at least 725 Nm (535 lb-ft) of torque delivered to the rear wheels via a Hewland sequential gearbox from 3,000 to 6,000 rpm.

There are scoops and flaps almost wherever in the car, according to New Atlas, and the front wheels are also completely exposed and separated from the rest of the car by aero gaps.

900 kg of Downforce

At 250 km/h (155 mph), Praga claims it produces 900 kg (1,984 lb) of downforce. Hence, by the time it crosses 300 km/h (186 mph) and reaches the top speed, it could be driving upside down, according to New Atlas.

Although it is a high-end vehicle, New Atlas notes that its price of €1.28 million (US$1.34 million) places it at the low end of the high end.

Praga’s extensive track record and super-lightweight design might make the Bohema one of the fastest street-legal vehicles around a track, even though it lacks a hybrid system and hand-built engine.

Ten vehicles will be produced for delivery in 2023, and Praga said that it is planning to produce 20 additional vehicles each of the next four years.

The Bohema’s engine and Hewland sequential transmission are situated behind the cabin. A titanium exhaust is also added to the engine, and it exits through the turbos. Additionally, Litchfield built a dry sump lubrication system that assisted in 5.5 inches of engine height reduction, allowing Praga to put the engine low in the vehicle.
