‘What’s woke and what’s a joke’: Canada implements gender-inclusive Ukraine support

Institute of Public Affairs’ Daniel Wild has questioned the Canadian government’s decision to include in its extra support to war-torn Ukraine a gender-inclusive diversity project.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he would be supporting Ukraine with an additional $4 million for a ‘gender-inclusive demining for sustainable futures in Ukraine’.

The project also includes establishing a gender and diversity working group to promote gender transformative mine action in Ukraine.

“It’s difficult to know what’s woke and what’s a joke these days, because the further you go down this rabbit hole, the weirder it gets,” he told Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi.

“This is the problem, when you carve everything up by identity politics – when you carve everything up by gender or race or ethnicity, you end up with these plainly ridiculous policies and ideas and you have normal people that look at this that go ‘well what does this mean?’”
