Manjummel Boys: Soubin Shahir was tensed hearing real-life stories of people stuck in Guna Cave

android, manjummel boys: soubin shahir was tensed hearing real-life stories of people stuck in guna cave

Actor-producer Soubin Shahir is gearing up for the release of Manjummel Boys. The film is based on the real-life story of a bunch of friends getting lost in Guna Cave in Kodaikanal. In a recent interview, Soubin revealed that he was tense learning the real-life experiences of the people who were stuck at Guna Cave.

Soubin and the team first made a documentary featuring the friends who were stuck in the cave. They documented the experiences of each individual, and Soubin noted how their accounts were different from each other. Soubin told Film Companion, “It’s very interesting in the sense that we made a documentary about the real survivors, where one person would tell their version and we cut to the next person sharing their experience, which would be different in some way.”

The actor was also worried whether they will be able to emulate the reality and do justice to it.

Soubin Shahir revealed that some of the details given by the survivors were deeply affecting. “They recalled some disturbing details and events, which got me tensed not only as the producer but also as the actor who plays an important role. I used to call the real people who faced this issue to get to know their input at all stages. I would also meet them in person and honestly, I was scared thinking about how we would pull this off. We kept in touch with them to maintain that sense of truth.”

The makers are yet to show the final product to the survivors. They are keeping it as a surprise till February 22, when the film will hit screens. Soubin wants the movie to justify their real-life experience, and that’s the reason he doesn’t want to show it to them now.

Manjummel Boys will hit screens on February 22.
