Whole nation is missing the ‘greatest cricketer’ Virat Kohli: Virender Sehwag ahead of Rajkot Test
The former India cricketer depicted the mood of every Indian when he said that the whole nation is missing Virat Kohli. Sehwag wished for Kohli and his family’s well-being and hoped to see the star batter back on the field soon.Â
The opener also hailed the 35-year-old as the greatest cricketer.Â
After opting out of the first 2 Test matches, Kohli withdrew his name from the remainder of the series as well. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) respected Kohli’s decision and asked the fans to respect Kohli’s privacy during this period.Â
“The whole country is missing him (Virat). I hope wherever he is, he and his family are happy. Hopefully, he will return to the cricket field soon. Virat is the greatest cricketer,” Sehwag said on Sports Tak.Â
SPECULATIONS OVER KOHLI’S ABSENCE
Recently, AB De Villiers issued an apology to Kohli and his family. This came after De Villiers claimed on his YouTube channel that Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were expecting a baby. De Villiers requested the fans to respect the family’s privacy and not speculate about the reasons behind the star-batter’s absence from the all-important Test series. Earlier, Kohli’s brother, Vikas Kohli, rubbished off the claims of their mother, Saroj Kohli, being ill.
He also urged the fans to not spread fake news without any prior information. The fans were also heartbroken over Kohli’s absence and mentioned that they would miss the fierce battle between him and England’s pacer, James Anderson.
Kohli missed the 1st 2 Tests against England that were played in Hyderabad and Rajkot. India would name Rajat Patidar as his replacement for the first 2 Tests.
India suffered another blow as KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were also ruled out of the 2nd Test match in Vizag. However, an under-strength Indian team won the Vizag Test by 106 runs against England.
The 3rd Test match between India and England will be played in Rajkot on February 15. Apart from Kohli, KL Rahul has also been ruled out of the third Test in Rajkot as he failed to gain full fitness.Â
