Gujarat Titans new Rs 3.60 crore signing Robin Minz has met with an unfortunate road accident on Saturday (March 2). According to a report in News 18, the 21-year-old cricketer, who was signed by the 2022 IPL champions after an intense bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 auction held at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai last year, is currently under observation.

The incident took place when the wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand was riding his Kawasaki superbike. As per the reports, his bike made contact with another bike, which made him lose control. The news of Minz’s accident was confirmed by his father, Francis Minz, who told News18 that the youngster had just minor “bruises” and is currently under observation.

“He lost control when his bike came in contact with another bike. There is nothing serious at the moment, and he is currently under observation,” Francis was quoted as saying.

The front half of the superbike was severely damaged after the collision, and the left-hander had some bruises on his right knee.

IPL 2024 starts on March 22

The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League is set to start on March 22. In the first match, defending champions Chennai Super Kings will face Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Gujarat Titans will open their campaign on Sunday (March 24) against the Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Minz, who is yet to play a first-class match for Jharkhand, is the first tribal cricketer to be picked in the IPL auction ever. A few days back, Gujarat Titans new captain Shubman Gill met with his father at the Ranchi airport when he was leaving the city after India’s win in the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series between India and England.

In the fourth Test, which was played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, India beat England by five wickets to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
