Director Chidambaram’s film Manjummel Boys, starring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, and Ganapathi, continues its solid journey at the box office as it has raked in an estimated Rs 15 crore in India by the end of its fifth day, February 26.

The gripping thriller has connected well with audiences, which in turn has helped the movie deliver big. Manjummel Boys opened to an impressive start on its first day, earning Rs 3.3 crore, according to Sacnilk.

The film’s second day witnessed a drop in earnings, as it collected Rs 3.25 crore. However, on the third day and fourth day, it recorded significant growth with collections amounting to Rs 4.25 crore and Rs 4.7 crore respectively. On day 5, the film earned Rs 2.40 crore with an occupancy of 39 per cent in the morning and 56 per cent in the night.

The domestic collection stands at Rs 17.90 crore, while the worldwide collection is Rs 36 crore.

Udhayanidhi praises Manjummel Boys

Tamil actor and politician Udhayanidhi Stalin took to social media to praise the team behind this survival thriller. “Watched Manjummel Boys! Just WOW!” he wrote on X.

Written and directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, Manjummel Boys has worked with Tamil audiences due to its connection with one of Tamil cinema’s cult classics – Gunaa. The cave located in Kodaikanal gained popularity as it served as a filming location for Gunaa, which released in the year 1991. Kamal Haasan played the lead role in the film.

The story of Manjummel Boys revolves around a bunch of friends who go on a trip, adding an adventurous twist to their vacation, the friends go on a hike to Devil’s Kitchen, also known as Gunaa Cave. However, their enjoyable trip takes a turn when one of them slips through the cracks and falls into the steep cave.
