Destiny 2 Removing One Endgame Modifier is a Logical Progression After New Patch
- Togetherness, a modifier in Destiny 2’s PvE content, has become infamous for reducing health and shield regeneration when players separate.
- Bungie removed Togetherness from Season of the Wish’s primary activity, The Coil, but it ought to be removed from the game entirely.
- Togetherness prevents players from strategizing and moving freely, making battles almost impossible to overcome.
Of all the modifiers in Destiny 2’s PvE content, none are quite as infamous as Togetherness. This modifier requires a fireteam of players to remain near one another at all times, as separating causes their health and shield regeneration to be massively reduced. Needless to say, Togetherness has gone down in history as one of the worst modifiers in Destiny history, simply due to the unnecessary challenge it adds to some of Destiny 2’s more difficult PvE content.
In their most recent patch for Destiny 2, update 7.3.0.5, Bungie removed Togetherness as a modifier for Season of the Wish’s primary seasonal activity, The Coil. While this is certainly a welcome change, many players are still wondering why it still has yet to be removed from the game entirely. After all, this is an update players have been requesting for several years now, so it would only make sense for Bungie to respond accordingly.

Togetherness Should Be Removed From Destiny 2 Altogether
Close
Devoted players are plenty familiar with the many modifiers that accompany some of Destiny 2’s PvE content. A modifier like Blackout, which disables radar and makes enemies’ melee attacks more powerful, is easily overcome if players simply stay mobile and keep their wits about them. Other modifiers, like Extinguish, which causes an entire fireteam to return to orbit if everyone falls in a Restricted Zone, can be conquered by a coordinated fireteam full of skilled players. Togetherness, on the other hand, simply forces players to remain within the immediate vicinity of one another, which can have an overwhelmingly negative impact on the outcome of a battle.
Togetherness ultimately prevents Destiny 2 players from applying any strategy to their combat approach, as they are unable to freely move around an area without subjecting themselves to potentially fatal damage. The only real strategy is for the team to stay together, but this simultaneously subjects the entire team to devastating AoE attacks that can wipe them all out in a single hit. Additionally, it can prevent players from having individual responsibilities in more difficult battles that require a variety of concurrent actions from the team. In the end, Togetherness does more than make difficult battles more challenging. Instead, it tends to make them nearly impossible.
Togetherness ultimately prevents players from applying any strategy to their combat approach…
There are plenty of frustrating modifiers in Destiny 2 that serve as a way for Bungie to add an extra challenge to some of the game’s more difficult content, like Nightfalls, which experience weekly modifier rotations, and seasonal activities like Season of the Wish’s The Coil and Riven’s Lair. However, most of the more devious modifiers are fairly easy to get used to once players put in the time and practice necessary to get a firm grasp on their mechanics. Togetherness, however, is a different story and should be removed from Destiny 2 entirely.
Bungie has already removed Togetherness from The Coil activity, which says a lot about the modifier in terms of its popularity, but this is nothing more than a sign that it needs to cease being a modifier in all the game’s activities. Especially now, as Bungie is striving to show its dedication to its MMO’s most committed players, it would speak volumes for the developer to announce the complete removal of Togetherness from Destiny 2. The eternal delisting of Togetherness from Destiny 2’s list of modifiers is much more than a fan-requested update at this point, as it has proven time and time again to be one of Destiny 2’s most counterintuitive difficulty modifiers, simply due to the negative impact it has on players’ ability to strategize in order to overcome the game’s most challenging PvE content.
