Police chief: It has been a bit too easy to be a criminal in the Southeastern Police District in recent years

Police chief: It has been a bit too easy to be a criminal in the Southeastern Police District in recent years

Police chief Ole Bredrup Sæverud told the newspaper VG that it has been a bit too easy to be part of organized crime in the Southeastern Police District in recent years.

The statement comes after a report that paints a worrying picture of the Southeastern Police District’s ability to investigate serious organized crime.

“No, we are not,” police chief Sæverud told VG when asked if they are satisfied with the efforts that have been made in the last three years.

“The consequence is that there may be environments that have been allowed to develop without sufficient attention from the police.

“It has been a little too easy to operate in organized crime in recent years. It is not the case that we have not made an effort, but we have not done enough,” Sæverud said.

He promised to make it more difficult for criminals in the future.
