Police car on its way to a boat accident site in Western Norway involved in a traffic accident

A police car on its way to a boat accident site in Tysnes Municipality in Western Norway was involved in a traffic accident with a private car on Sunday night. People involved were awake and conscious.

The police reported that there was to be major material damage to the two cars. Two people were flown to Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen.

“Both were awake and conscious. Beyond this, the extent of the injuries is unknown,” operations manager Ole Ronny Olsen in the Western Police District noted in a press release.

The Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs (Spesialenheten for politisaker) has been notified of the incident. Monday night, the road was still closed.

Boat accident

The police car was on its way to a boat accident site just outside Våge in Tysnes. The report about the incident was received at 9:10 PM on Sunday. A 30-foot wooden boat had run aground with its engine running. All emergency services, a rescue helicopter, and the coast guard were called to the scene. One person was on board the boat.

“The person in question has been taken to the Stord hospital,” the operations manager added.
