MANILA, Philippines: The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) has slapped a P20,000 fine on NorthPort team manager Pido Jarencio following his verbal altercation with NLEX import Thomas Robinson during last week’s match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

PBA commissioner Willy Marcial said Jarencio has been given a stern warning as well, reiterating that a repeat of such an offense could lead to a heftier penalty in the future. His decision was based on the recommendation of the technical committee.
Before the Jarencio-Robinson verbal tussle, NorthPort team governor Erick Arejola and Robinson were seen engaging in a heated verbal exchange during the Batang Pier’s 112-104 win against the Road Warriors last week.
Jarencio eventually joined the fray, hurling verbal threats against the NLEX import with Marcial himself in the middle of the altercation at the Smart Araneta Coliseum’s hallway leading to the teams’ dugout.
Robinson, however, was sent home to the States by NLEX management early this week and has been replaced by Stokley Chaffey.
The NBA veteran was given the pink slip shortly after arriving from an unsanctioned five-day vacation to Palawan with his family.
Chaffey will make his PBA debut on Friday against league-leader Magnolia at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
