La aparición de dos ‘Safety car’ y un virtual safety car fueron las diferencias en la carrera. Hubo una “avalancha” de paradas en boxes. Se relanzó la carrera y en dos incidentes separados, provocaron un segundo coche de seguridad.

Valtteri Bottas quedó fuera, Yuki Tsunoda fue golpeado por Kevin Magnussen y también se retiró. El piloto de Haas fue sancionado con 10 segundos. Daniel Ricciardo se retiró tras ser golpeado por Lance Stroll, quien también fue penalizado.

Al principio, Fernando Alonso rebasó al mexicano y ocupó la segunda posición, pero más adelante ‘Checo’ Pérez recuperó el segundo puesto, hasta que los incidentes marcaron la carrera.
