Podcast | ‘For Ajax it’s about points and coins’ | Dutch football

The last group matches in the Champions League are on the program. Ajax plays at home against Sporting Lisbon. Etienne Verhoeff talks about this with Johan Inan in the new AD Voetbalpodcast. But it is also about Schmidt’s stay at PSV and Dutch trainers abroad.

“Prestige is especially at stake for Ajax tonight: being the first Dutch club to survive the group stage of the Champions League with six wins in a row. That is the goal”, says the Ajax follower. ,,But it’s also about the coins tonight. Ajax misses quite a bit of income from gate receipts, because no audience is allowed to attend. A win in the Champions League makes up for that loss somewhat.”

The team from Amsterdam will probably play without Dusan Tadic, who was not on the training field the day before the game. The captain has not missed a minute in Europe for Ajax since his arrival. ,,It will be interesting to see Ajax Tadic. He is very important to Ten Hag.”

In addition, they discuss the future of Ten Hag and the scoring drive of Sébastian Haller. But there is more to tell. For example, Dutch trainers abroad. “We are not in a good position at the moment. Van den Brom fired from Genk. Bosz is having a hard time in France. Van Brockhorst is doing well at Rangers, but he can build on what Steven Gerrard has put down.”

In Eindhoven, the trainer was also pulled. RB Leipzig wanted to bring Roger Schmidt to the club. But the German has indicated that he will at least finish the season in Eindhoven. “I think that’s nice. He could also have taken the hard shoulder to Germany, but he remains loyal. And PSV has been making progress in recent weeks.”
