Pics: 'We turned it around in six months' Westmeath hurler Joey Boyle and Avril Corbett celebrate their wedding in style
It can be a tricky time of the year for GAA stars to have their weddings and even though the Westmeath hurling team were taking on Down, Joey Boyle would not be on the pitch that day.
After meeting in a nightclub ten years ago in Mullingar, Joey decided to pop the question last June, to Avril on the top of Machu Picchu mountain, in Peru. Now that we have to say, is very impressive Joey.

While many hold out for a year or two, the sporting couple got straight down to planning, ‘turning it around in six months;’ a day that Avril called ‘The best day of our lives.’

The couple got married in Avril’s local church, Dysart and told EVOKE ‘It was the fullest I’ve ever seen the church it was lovely to see everyone there to celebrate with us.’
With several of Joey’s teammates there to support him, Avril also had her girls from her local GAA club Loughnavalley, so as you can guess, it was a full house.
The reception was held at Bloomfield House Hotel in Westmeath with over 270 guests attending.

For her dress, Avril went for a shoulder less look that had a triangular shape in the bodice that peaked just above the top seam.
Her dress was from Kadee in Athlone and Avril proudly told us that when it came to her shoes ‘I kept my heels until about 2 am on the night’ and went straight into wedges the next day for the second day of celebrating. And as any woman out there will know, that is nearly unheard of.

The bridesmaids wore silver, a colour that is rare but very effective. The dresses were satin where the neck was looped.

As for the boys, they looked very dapper in a tux with a pint of the black stuff to ease the nerves.

Even their beloved dog Lexi was kitted out for the big day.

On Sunday the couple and all their guests were ready to go again and celebrated in a barn that is located behind Avril’s house.
The couple decorated the place, installed a bar for the day and brought in the caterers. Despite everyone having a late night, day two ‘Was a huge success and we were kicking people out at 3.30 in the morning.’
With their honeymoon to Mallorca still to enjoy, the couple will be taking it easy for the next few days.
Congratulations Joey and Avril from all team at EVOKE!
