The Philippines on Thursday recorded 3,694 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the country’s total active infections to 49,835.

This is the lowest active case count since July.

The Department of Health said the new cases brought the country’s total COVID-19 caseload to 2,772,491.

Of the over 49,000 active cases, 73.4% are mild, 6.8% are asymptomatic, 6.2% are severe, and 2.6% are in critical condition.

Total recoveries climbed to 2,680,081 with 3,924 new ones.

The death toll rose to 42,575 with 227 new fatalities.

The DOH noted that 52 duplicates were removed from the total case count, while 158 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

The DOH said all laboratories were operational on October 26, while one laboratory was not able to submit its data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.

Further, data from the DOH also showed that 50% of the country’s intensive care unit beds are utilized, while 34% of the mechanical ventilators are also in use.
