‘Won’t be easy’ — Birmingham City tipped to give Leicester scare in FA Cup clash

Birmingham City will face Championship rivals Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend. The Blues were able to edge out Hull City in the previous round after hosting a replay at St Andrew’s following their 1-1 draw at the start of the year.

Birmingham are currently way down in 20th in the Championship table and while they are not in any direct relegation trouble, eight points currently separate them and the bottom three. Meanwhile, upcoming opponents Leicester stand strong at the top of the tree with a healthy seven-point cushion.

While a pretty hefty 34 points currently stand between Birmingham and Leicester, the writing certainly isn’t on the wall for their clash in the FA Cup. Chris Sutton delivered his latest predictions for his BBC Sport column and was joined by Justin and Arni from indie band The Vaccines, who support Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.

“Leicester are top of the Championship but have dropped points in their last two games, which is a reminder that there is still work to do, but I’d like to see them have a go at the FA Cup too. It won’t be easy for them against Birmingham, who are unbeaten in three games since Tony Mowbray took charge, but they should be too strong for the Blues,” Sutton said.

However, Arni believes Birmingham have what it takes to deliver a classic upset and knock the Championship title favourites out of the competition.

“I’m going for an upset here — there will be some shocks, somewhere. We are playing Birmingham on our tour and not going to Leicester, so I am going to back Birmingham. 0-0 and Birmingham to win the replay.”

The Blues will be hoping to continue their unbeaten streak with a huge performance at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. They have lost just one match so far this month.
