Shadow Home Affairs Minister James Paterson says Labor has let two asylum seeker boats “slip past” and reach the Australian mainland.
Labor let two asylum seeker boats ‘slip past’: James Paterson
Around 40 men from Pakistan and Bangladesh were discovered near a small Indigenous community in Western Australia.
Mr Paterson told Sky News host Peta Credlin that it is “almost unheard of” for something like this to happen within the last decade.
“It is such a rare event – they’re almost always intercepted at sea and turned around,” he said.
“But these ones have slipped through – that’s happened on this government’s watch, and they have to account for it.”
