Family ‘deeply concerned’ after missing upstate New Yorker’s car found abandoned in NYC

A Hudson Valley family is “deeply concerned” after their 26-year-old son who struggles with mental health issues vanished about a month ago – and his car was found abandoned nearly 50 miles away in Upper Manhattan.

Colin Marma, 26, who lives in Garrison, N.Y. with his mother Jeanne-Marie Fleming and stepdad Roland Heitmann, told his coworkers Feb. 2 that he was stepping out for a coffee run – but then never returned.

Marma – who suffers from bipolar disorder – was working for a small cabinet shop linked to his stepdad’s construction company in Cold Spring – an opportunity that he was “quite excited about,” Heitmann said.

“He left here and he drove to work, and he pulled into work and he pulled out of work,” Fleming told The Post in a phone interview. “Then he went back to work. He went inside the woodshop, he started to do a few things and then he ended up leaving, and the guys he worked with thought he went to get coffee, and he never came back.”

The anxiety-stricken family filed a police report the next day – but sat on pins and needles for about four more days before cops notified them that their son’s car was found abandoned at 143rd Street and Broadway in Hamilton Heights.

His cell phone was stashed in the glove compartment – but unfortunately it was on airplane mode, his mom said.

The last sighting of Marma was inside Bless Bar & Kitchen, at the same intersection, according to his stepdad.

“There was a video of him. It was definitely him,” Heitmann said. “And after that he virtually disappeared. There’s been no hint of him anywhere. We’re deeply, deeply concerned because we know he kind …goes into his head and the world isn’t that important. That’s fine. But we have no ability – we have no hint of where he is.”

Marma seemed to struggle mentally for about a week before his disappearance, Heitmann said.

“We were a little bit worried about him,” the missing man’s stepdad added. “He was talking to us about the fact that he was feeling a little bit off, but yet he was still fine….We had some nice conversations so there was nothing really strongly indicative of things being really unusual. He just said he was feeling a bit off.”

Marma was hospitalized twice before for mental health concerns, at ages 20 and 22, his mother said.

“My son does see a therapist and he does see a psychiatrist,” Fleming said. “He’s really trying, in many, many ways to get out, to avoid this kind of situation.”

Outside of work, Marma enjoys working out at the gym, which he does to “help keep him balanced,” his mom said.

“Also about two weeks ago, he went snowboarding,” she added. “That’s something he really enjoys. He tries to go a couple of times in the winter. He loves music, listening to it, trying to create it. And he has a few close friends that he sees on a regular basis. He lives at home with Roland and I. We have a pretty simple life.”

During the family’s desperate search, they’ve contacted city hospitals, visited police stations and homeless shelters, and plastered flyers across the city.

“Honestly, it’s devastating to not know where someone you love is,” Fleming said. “It interrupted my sleep, you know. It’s really hard to keep any sort of a routine for me right now because I’m [constantly] thinking about him.”

He was driving a 2004 Mercedes with New York registration KXE6055.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (845) 225-4300.

“We’re praying every single day to bring our son home,” Fleming said. “We know that it’s going to be one connection, one person who helps us and that’s why we’re asking everybody to keep a lookout for him.”
