Muhyiddin singgah dan beramah mesra dengan warga emas dan penduduk kurang upaya di rumah pangsa kerajaan yang lebih dikenali sebagai Rumah Pangsa Tanjung Aru dan kemudiannya menyerahkan bantuan kewangan kepada mereka.

Tetapi dua bulan kemudian, penduduk amat terkejut selepas didatangi Lembaga Perumahan dan Kemajuan Bandar Sabah (LPPB), iaitu agensi negeri yang bertanggungjawab ke atas rumah mampu milik, menyampaikan notis pengusiran kepada 315 keluarga, terdiri daripada lebih 1,000 penduduk yang tinggal di 11 blok di situ.

Notis itu memaklumkan bahawa mereka perlu mencari sendiri rumah baharu dan mengosongkan unit masing-masing menjelang akhir Disember lepas, dengan menyebut bahawa keselamatan struktur flat itu menjadi kebimbangan kerana bangunan itu telah digunakan sejak 1970.

“Jadi anda boleh bayangkan bagaimana perasaan kami mengenai Rumah Pangsa Tanjung Aru yang menjadi berita selepas lawatan Muhyiddin diberi notis pengusiran dua bulan kemudian,” kata seorang penduduk di kediaman itu, Dewi Awang.

Pada 24 Jan lalu, penduduk menyuarakan kemarahan dan kekecewaan mereka ke jalanan dengan mengadakan demonstrasi secara aman di tempat letak kereta terbuka flat dengan kehadiran pegawai LPPB untuk memerhati proses pengusiran.

Pengerusi LPPB Masiung Banah memberitahu penduduk bahawa agensi itu berpegang pada keputusannya dan menguatkuasakan notis pengusiran kerana bangunan itu tidak lagi selamat untuk diduduki.

Beliau berkata, penduduk boleh memilih untuk tinggal sementara jika mereka tidak menemui tempat untuk berpindah, tetapi akan tiba masanya pihak lembaga akan menghentikan kutipan sewaan dan penyelenggaraan bangunan.

“Dalam erti kata lain, jika berlaku sebarang kejadian tidak diingini, kami tidak akan bertanggungjawab,” katanya dalam satu laporan berita.

Dewi, yang mengetuai biro tindakan yang ditubuhkan selepas notis pengusiran disampaikan berkata, penduduk terkejut dengan kenyataan Masiung.

“Kami tidak tahu sama ada hendak menganggap itu sebagai ugutan atau amaran. Sejujurnya, LPPB tidak menyediakan sebarang perkhidmatan penyelenggaraan untuk flat ini selama lebih 10 tahun, jika tidak bangunan itu akan berada dalam keadaan yang lebih baik.

“Penyewa berasa kecewa walaupun telah menjelaskan sewa bulanan RM170 seunit,” katanya.

Dewi berkata, penduduk telah mengemukakan petisyen memohon dialog dengan lembaga itu tahun lepas, tetapi tidak diendahkan.

Beliau berkata, penduduk yang berada dalam kumpulan B40 meminta tempat tinggal alternatif yang lebih dekat dengan lokasi mereka sekarang atau di Putatan atau Penampang.

“Mereka hanya menawarkan 39 penyewa rumah baharu di Sepanggar (pinggir Kota Kinabalu) tetapi hanya lima yang telah menerimanya.

“Ke mana yang lain sepatutnya pergi? Akibatnya mereka dituduh terlalu memilih dan tidak bersyukur,” katanya.

Dewi berkata, penyewa akan terus tinggal di flat tersebut sehingga LPPB memenuhi tuntutan mereka.

“Kami meminta dibenarkan tinggal sementara mereka mengenal pasti petempatan atau tapak baharu untuk membina rumah kos rendah untuk menempatkan kami semula.

“Pada masa yang sama, mereka harus menyediakan penyelenggaraan untuk rumah pangsa walaupun ini mengambil masa bertahun-tahun kerana ia adalah tanggungjawab mereka,” katanya.
