THE spotlight shifted decisively to Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPI) at the recent Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2024, as the Korean automaker unveiled its latest additions to the automotive landscape — the N lineup. Drawing crowds filled with anticipation, the N marque, embodying Hyundai’s high-performance sub-brand, became the talk of the town.
Hyundai’s N lineup was presented at the recent Manila International Auto Show.
N, derived from Hyundai Motor’s prestigious research and development center in Namyang, South Korea, and the technical hub in Nürburgring, Germany, represents more than just a brand extension; it signifies a fusion of cutting-edge technology, relentless innovation, and a rich heritage in motorsports.
The Elantra N.
It comprises the Elantra N and the Ioniq 5 N, each embodying Hyundai’s commitment to excellence in performance and design. Assembled under the Racing Midship project, the Elantra N epitomizes the essence of the N brand, built upon three fundamental pillars — corner rascal, everyday sports car, and racetrack capability.
According to HMPI, the N lineup is not merely the result of meticulous engineering; it represents a seamless transition from racetrack to road. By infusing Hyundai’s racing legacy into production models, they aim to reignite the passion for driving among enthusiasts.
Right in the middle of the hoopla hovered the Elantra N, exuding an aura of aggression with its lower, wider stance, and bold front bumper design. Accentuated by black anodized emblems and striking red accents, the Elantra N commands attention. Equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-gasoline engine, delivering 276 horsepower (hp) and 391 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, it promises exhilarating performance on both the road and the track.
Alongside the Elantra N was the Ioniq 5 N, a testament to Hyundai’s prowess in electric mobility. With its sleek design and advanced technology, the Ioniq 5 N pushes the boundaries of electric performance. Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, generating 641 hp and 770 Nm of torque, it offers an unparalleled driving experience. Coupled with an 84-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, providing a range of 448 kilometers, the Ioniq 5 N ensures eco-friendly performance without compromise.
Inside, both models offer a blend of luxury and functionality, with premium materials adorning the cabins. From digital instrument clusters to infotainment screens, every aspect is designed to elevate the driving experience.
Despite their awe-inspiring performance and advanced features, the N lineup remains accessible to enthusiasts. The Elantra N has a price of P2.738 million, while the Ioniq 5 N starts at P4.25 million, offering exceptional value for uncompromising performance.
According to HMPI Managing Director Cecil Capacete, the demand for the models is soaring, with waiting periods of up to three months. Yet, for enthusiasts willing to wait, the promise of experiencing Hyundai’s pinnacle of performance is worth every moment.
Hyundai’s N lineup represents more than just cars; it symbolizes a commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive excellence. With their unrivaled performance, innovative technology, and relentless pursuit of perfection, the N lineup stands as a testament to Hyundai’s unwavering dedication to advancing innovation in driving.
