CBI books Megha Engineering, 8 steel ministry officials in Rs 315 crore corruption case
NEW DELHI: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd and eight officials of ministry of steel over alleged corruption of Rs 315 crores in the execution of the NISP project.
The officers booked are from the NMDC Iron and Steel Plant.
Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) is one of the biggest electoral bond donors to BJP and BRS, and the second largest donor to Congress.
P Pitchi Reddy and P V Krishna Reddy, the promoters of Megha Engineering that emerged as the second-largest donor of electoral bonds at Rs 1,232 crore, saw their wealth jump 53% and 51%, respectively.
P P Reddy and PV Krishna Reddy, who are worth about $6 billion each, are the richest persons from Hyderabad after Divi’s Labs promoter Murali Divi & family ($7 billion), Hurun Global Rich List 2024 showed.
The uncle and nephew duo moved up 305 and 303 places to the 536th and 561st positions, respectively, in the global rich list.
