Juan Soto’s controversial play where he runs over an opponent to avoid a double play
Juan Soto’s controversial push during the Yankees’ doubleheader against the Guardians..
Juan Soto continues his devastating form and is on his way to a brilliant season with New York and is willing to do everything in his power to maintain the lead, as he did during the game versus the Cleveland Guardians after hitting a three-run homer in an 8-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians to complete the sweep of the doubleheader after winning the first game 3-2.
Juan Soto pushes the first baseman to avoid a double play
Soto’s arrival in the Big Apple has been well received by the Yankees fans, the former Padres slugger is aiming to have the best start of his career, however, on his first trip to Progressive Field, although he did not do much damage on the first game, he got the opportunity to score after he shined with a home run.
The Dominican was involved in a controversial play, in which he ran over Josh Naylor, the Guardians’ first baseman, in an action that was not clear if it was an accident or a dirty play.
After receiving a base-on ball in the third inning, Aaron Judge hit a fly ball to center field, meanwhile, Guardian’s pitcher Tyler Freeman fired out a white bullet when he saw Soto separated from the pad.
The Dominican ran for his life and ran over Naylor by pushing the first baseman out of his center, due to the nature of the play, Guardian’s manager challenged the play and the decision was changed to a double kill.
Yankees feel a powerful start in the season
The Yankees are 12-3 for the seventh time and the first since 2003 when they made one of their 40 trips to the World Series. They are 8-1 as visitors and have won their first five series for the third time (1923 and 2010).
New York’s lineup is potent from top to bottom.
“It’s been awesome,” Aaron Judge said of the Yankees’ starting offense. “We do a great job of wearing down the starting pitching, and when you do that, it kind of forces teams to go to their bullpen and bring in certain guys they don’t want to do that in certain situations.”
