It’s easy for fans to grow increasingly frustrated with the frequent injury woes for Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. But how do you think he feels?
Well, he let us know in an Instagram post on Monday afternoon, just hours after his 2021 was prematurely put to an end.
McCaffrey, after taking 10 carries for 35 rushing yards in the first half, made an early exit in the Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Initially, the injury didn’t appear too serious, as the fifth-year back remained relatively active on the sideline for much of the game.
Turns out, a “rolled ankle,”or the byproduct of it, was serious enough for the Panthers to place McCaffrey on the injured reserve for a second time this season. He will now miss the Carolina’s remaining five contests to close out the slate.
For McCaffrey, this’ll bring his total absences to 10 for 2021. If you add those to the 13 he missed in 2020 with a handful of setbacks, he will have played in only 10 of a possible 33 games since signing his four-year, $64 million extension.
Again, this whole situation is unfortunate and maddening for many. But, sometimes, it’s not always about Carolina Panthers fandom or a fantasy football team. It’s about somebody else’s career.
