Delicious Dim Sum is opening in Beeston
A man who runs a stall selling tasty Chinese treats in Beeston’s High Road is opening his own restaurant in the town. The owner, who is known as KC or Mr Chan to his customers, has taken over an empty property not far from his stand outside L’Oliva where he sells Asian delights such as dim sum and parsnip cake.
Renovation work is well underway to transform the property, which was previously Sushi House and before that Fred Hallam’s Garden Centre. Local resident Christopher Frost said: “That’s great news. Another empty shop taken that’s been closed for years. He will do well based on the crowds that gather round his stall on a Saturday morning.”
Shelley Wood, who runs not-for-profit community venture The Plane Tree, in High Road, said: “He’s a lovely guy. He’s a really popular local person. He’s just very kind and friendly and he makes gorgeous food.

“I hope it goes well for him. KC and his wife were very welcoming when we set up – that’s how I first met him. He very kindly brought a range of dim sum down and his wife has donated things to the shop as well. They are a really lovely couple.”
Other locals are pleased to see the back of an empty shop and welcomed the new venture on the Beeston Updated Facebook page. They described Mr Chan’s food as delicious and good value, and his personality as infectious and kind. One said: “He’s so lovely. Really kind gentleman and I am over the moon for him.” Another added: “This is amazing! His food is so tasty and he’s a lovely chap too. Wishing him all the success. A great addition to Beeston.”
