Brezilya’nın Rio de Janeiro şehrini sel vurdu. Hafta sonu etkili olan yağışların yol açtığı sel nedeniyle 11 kişi hayatını kaybetti. İtfaiye ekipleri, aracıyla nehre düşen bir kadını arama çalışmalarının sürdüğünü belirtti.

Sokak ve caddelerin sular altında kaldığı şehirde metro istasyonlarını, dükkan ve evleri su bastı, ağaçlar devrildi. Bazı bölgelerde ise toprak kaymaları meydana geldi.

Rio de Janeiro Belediye Başkanı Eduardo Paes, kentte olağanüstü hal ilan edildiğini duyururken, Brezilya hükümeti bölgeye federal destek gönderilmesine yönelik öneride bulunduğunu açıkladı.
