Over 500 fully vaccinated people in Norway infected with corona – FHI not worried

Gosford preview: Trainer believes it’s about time for one of his charges to salute at Gosford Sunday

It’s pretty obvious that Tellusastory Nic will soon pinch a race and her trainer Brett Partelle can’t see why Sunday at Gosford isn’t the day to breakthrough.

The Nicconi filly is searching for her first win at start seven in the second race over 1100m after placing in two of her past three.

Even her fourth place last start at Gosford was good when finishing less than two lengths off Not Another Ruby.

“She’s very much improved and I’m really happy with the way she’s transgressing and she’s going to race very well on Sunday,” Partelle said.

“She got on the wrong leg at Taree and didn’t stretch out and she came out and ran third behind a horse that’s won three-straight then second to Pleading who has won again.

“She lost her footing last start so there’s a few good reasons around for her to do well.”

While she’s got form on wet tracks and has even run well on a Heavy 9 surface, Partelle thinks it’s not her go.

“A drying track would be a real good thing for her. She’s a thick set sort of filly and being able to get her feet on firmer footing will be beneficial to her,” he said.

Isalute is a horse Partelle is looking forward to watching go around in a competitive sixth race against the likes of Sammy Bojack and Phoenix Global.

The Star Witness three-year-old won at Scone on June 1 when produced off a 23-week spell and there’s a lot more to come this time in.

“He’s a really nice horse and I expect bigger things from him,” Partelle said.

“He’s terribly weighted which is why the apprentice (Ellen Hennessy) goes on and he carried 58kg.

“He’s in top order and should get a good run from where he’s drawn. You’d expect Gai’s horse (Bojack) will roll forward and he’ll camp off them.”

Since his first-up win Isalute put in a top trial over 845m when finishing in between Just Field and Stakes winner The Bopper.

Hennessy will ride him out of barrier one and she just needs to avoid getting stuck in traffic on the off-speed horse.

“He’s going run very well and if it dries out he can use his acceleration. He’s grown into a good stature of a horse and the form around him is very good,” Partelle said.

“Hopefully he doesn’t get too bottled up. If he gets clear running they’ll know he’s there.”

Trust Me runs against Isalute in the same race and will jump alongside him in barrier two as he looks to win for the fifth time at Gosford.

“He’s back to his favourite track. While I couldn’t see him beating Isalute home I can see him running in the top four,” Partelle said.

The seven-year-old in on the quick back up off a sixth placing here which Partelle said punters shouldn’t read much into.

“I wasn’t happy with where he ended up the other day. He got too far back when he could’ve been right behind the leaders so he should’ve finished in the first three in my opinion,” Partelle said.

“I don’t usually back horses up but he’s an older horse and we’ve done nothing with him except keeping him in the water.”

Skye Banner also runs for the stable in the fourth as an outsider who hasn’t had luck with the winter weather.

“He has to lift. He’s just looking for a decent track,” Partelle said.
