Oslo Pride gets permanent place in Norway’s state budget

Oslo Pride gets permanent place in Norway’s state budget

The Oslo Pride festival will be included in Norway’s state budget from 2022. The Minister of Culture calls it a symbolic recognition.

“Unfortunately, we are not at the finish line in Norway. Many attitudes must be changed,” Minister of Culture and Gender Equality Abid Raja (V) told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Raja called the fact that Oslo Pride now has a permanent place in the state budget an important symbolic recognition.

“I can’t stop smiling. This is a big day of celebration for Oslo Pride. A day for which a major movement has worked for a long time,” Oslo Pride leader Fredrik Dreyer.

Oslo Pride costs about NOK 10 million to arrange. In addition to public support, the sources of income are what the event sells in its own venues.
