Los Angeles Rams Cutting Veteran Player After Five Seasons

Like every other team around the NFL, the Los Angeles Rams are looking to get better by improving their roster over the offseason.

The Rams made the decision to get rid of one veteran player who had spent the last five seasons with the organization on Wednesday.

The Rams have released center Brian Allen after he had been with the team since 2018.

Allen, who played his college career at Michigan State, joined the Rams as a fourth-round draft pick.

He was a backup in his rookie season, appearing in 13 games. Allen earned the starting center job in 2019 and started the first nine games of the season before suffering a knee injury in Week 10.

He would return and help the Rams make it to the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, where they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals.

Allen earned the first Super Bowl title of his career with that victory, then would go on to sign an extension with the Rams ahead of the 2022 season.

Allen’s extension was a three-year deal worth $24 million, but now it appears that he will have to sign with another team in free agency this year.

At only 28, Allen still has time to make an impact for another team.

Offensive line depth is extremely important, and he should be able to negotiate a new deal in free agency as teams continue to assess their rosters.

With Allen now off the roster, it will be interesting to see if the Rams look to address the interior offensive line in April’s Draft.
