Ormoc City bet wins 8-ball gold at EVRAA meet

Ormoc City – In dominant fashion, Athena Divine Ig-agao of Ormoc City captured the billiards gold medal for the secondary girls 8-ball event in the 2024 Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic (EVRAA) meet on Wednesday, May 8.
Ig-agao, a grade 11 student of Ormoc City Regional Sports Academy, opened her campaign by defeating Irish Jean Lutao of Northern Samar, 4-2, followed by a 4-1 victory Moree Hobayan of Eastern Samar.
In the quarterfinals, the Ormoc City bet demolished Glena Joy Golong of Samar, 5-2. She then outplayed Karen Juaquino of Maasin, 5-3, to reach the finals.
The championship match was no different as Ig-agao scored a lopsided 6-1 triumph over Princess Ann Cruda of Baybay.
“At first I felt the pressure but I thought to myself, I had to go out there and be confident so I can win the gold because it’s my second time to win gold in the EVRAA meet,” said the 16-year-old pool prospect who will represent Eastern Visayas in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa hosted by Cebu in July.
Ig-agao also expressed here gratitude to coaches Marife Taneo, Reynaldo Grandea, Ramon Mistica, Eliseo Villaflores and Rogelio Noval Jr. Who helped her train for this competition.
Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez, Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez and City Councilor Rey Evangelista, meanwhile, congratulated Ig-agao for her hard work, dedication, and determination to win. They also vowed to support the entire Eastern Visayas delegation in the Palarong Pambansa.
